Omega3

Purchasing fresh, locally caught fish has been made easier with LEFTRADE's retail fish outlet relocating from Bullock Island to the central business district of Lakes Entrance.

safewayNationals Member for Gippsland Peter McGauran officially opened the Omega 3! store in the Safeway Mall. The store, operated by Lakes Entrance Fishermen's Co-operative's (LEFCOL) business arm LEFTRADE, relocated from its site of more than 20 years at the Co-operative's Bullock Island facility.

"This new store in the heart of Lakes Entrance is a sign of success for the fishermen's co-operative," Mr McGauran said. "The retail outlet at Bullock Island has always been popular with locals and tourists, selling an average of $3.5 million worth of fish each year. "The new site in the Safeway Mall means purchasing fresh local, fish will be more convenient. "It is expected to attract even more business from locals and tourists, who will want to sample the produce of Australia's seafood capital." The store has been named Omega 3! to promote the health benefits of Omega 3 fats found in fish oil. It will be open seven days per week.

LEFCOL Tom Davies said the shop would sell many varieties of fish. "Our aim is to provide the best quality product available in the world," he said. "The majority of seafood sold will be from our local catches, but we will also offer some imported varieties and products from across Australia. "Each variety of fish will be clearly labelled and comprehensive information will be displayed so customers can make up their own minds."

A new name, new logo, new look
The idea to re-locate and re-brand can be credited to LEFCOL General Manager, Mr Dale Sumner. The Leftrade Board agreed with the benefits provided and gave the approval to proceed with the relocation.

GeorgeMr Sumner felt it was important to utilise as much local business that they could in the design and implentation of the move. A local designer was commisioned to bring the supermarket to life after being tucked away next to the fish processing plant on Bullock Island. New colours, a mascot, George and new logo was designed.

All signage and branding was designed by Damian Witham of Trade-Ads. A locally based graphic design and website business servicing clients from all over.

Through the use of 3D software Damian was able to produce ideas on signage and shop layout quickly before any signage was produced, saving potential costly mistakes when fitting out the shop.
